April Tea Report: 2025 China Exports & US Imports

Data from China Customs and the US Census Bureau (GATS) was recently published regarding China exports and US imports of tea for April 2025.

 

CHINA EXPORTS

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• April total export volume DECREASED 5.1% year on year
• YTD totals are UP 5.2% over last year
• Exports of YTD GREEN tea volume INREASED 15.1% over YTD 2024
• Average prices INREASED 3.2% over the previous April to $3.58/kg

US IMPORTS

 

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• YTD total imports from CHINA are UP 30.1% over 2024
• Average price for imports from CHINA was $5.27/kg, UP 25.2% over April 2024
• 38.5% of YTD GREEN tea import (volume) was from China
• YTD imports of GREEN from China are UP 53.6%
• 39.2% of the month’s US ORGANIC tea import volume was from China (33.2% YTD)
