May Tea Report: 2025 China Exports & US Imports

Data from China Customs and the US Census Bureau (GATS) was recently published regarding China exports and US imports of tea for May 2025.

 

CHINA EXPORTS

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• May total export volume INCREASED 18.3% year on year
• YTD totals are UP 7.7% over last year
• Exports of YTD GREEN tea volume INREASED 18.7% over YTD 2024
• Average prices DEREASED 5.2% over the previous May to $3.61/kg

US IMPORTS

 

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• YTD total imports from CHINA are UP 13.7% over 2024
• Average price for imports from CHINA was $3.32/kg, DOWN 2.6% over May 2024
• 37.0% of YTD GREEN tea import (volume) was from China
• YTD imports of GREEN from China are UP 40.7%
• 15.8% of the month’s US ORGANIC tea import volume was from China (30.6% YTD)
