Data from the China Tea Marketing Agency, , the Tea Industry Committee of China Association for the Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation, and the US Census Bureau (GATS) was recently published regarding China exports and US imports of tea for November 2023.
CHINA EXPORTS


HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE
- November total export volume INCREASED 2.1% year on year
- YTD total export volume is DOWN 1.8% over 2022
- GREEN tea accounted for 86.6% of total export volume
- Average prices DECREASED 16.9% over the previous November to $4.48/kg
- Exports of GREEN tea volume INCREASED 7.8% over November 2022
- Exports of BLACK tea volume DECREASED 42.5% over the same time last year
US IMPORTS


HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE
- Average price for GLOBAL imports was $4.96/kg, UP 12.2% over the previous November
- YTD total China imports are DOWN 34.5% over 2022
- Average price for CHINA imports was $5.28/kg, UP 20.6% over November 2022
- 32.9% of all GREEN tea import (volume) was from China, but only 14.1% of VALUE
- 26.7% of the month’s US ORGANIC tea import volume was from China
