September Tea Report: 2024 China Exports & US Imports

Data from the China Customs and the US Census Bureau (GATS) was recently published regarding China exports and US imports of tea for September 2024.

 

CHINA EXPORTS

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• September total export volume DECREASED 2.7% year on year
• YTD totals are DOWN 0.7% over last year
• Exports of YTD GREEN tea volume INCREASED 2.7% over YTD 2023
• Average prices DECREASED 15.8% over the previous September to $3.85/kg

US IMPORTS

 

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• YTD total imports from CHINA are UP 13.6% over 2023
• Average price for imports from CHINA was $4.53/kg, DOWN 17.1% over September 2023
• 23.2% of YTD GREEN tea import (volume) was from China
• YTD imports of GREEN from China are UP 16.3%
• 29.2% of the month’s US ORGANIC tea import volume was from China (28.0% YTD)
