July 20th saw the formal signing of a EU-China agreement on geographical indication (GI) protection on items, including 59 Chinese teas.

The agreement outlines a plan for 100 products from each region to be protected, with the use of official certification marks on products. After 4 years, the plan then extends to 175 additional products for each side.
