CHINA EXPORTS
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE
May total export volume DECREASED 1.7% year on year
YTD total export volume is DOWN 3.7% over 2022
GREEN tea accounted for 81.9% of total export volume
Average prices DECREASED 8.1% over the previous May to $5.00/kg
Exports of GREEN tea volume DECREASED 6.6% over May 2022
Exports of BLACK tea volume INCREASED 33.5% over the same time last year
US IMPORTS
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE
Average price for GLOBAL imports was $4.19/kg, DOWN 2.2% over the previous May
YTD total China imports are DOWN 27.8% over 2022
Average price for CHINA imports was $4.33/kg, UP 23.9% over May 2022
30.7% of all GREEN tea import (volume) was from China, but only 13% of VALUE
29.9% of the month’s US ORGANIC tea import volume was from China
