Guizhou Province produced 307,700 metric tons of tea in 2024, accounting for 8.2% of China’s total national production of 3.74 million metric tons. Within China’s Western Belt tea production region, Guizhou represented 22.8% of the belt’s 1.3 million metric ton output. The Western Belt itself is China’s largest producing region, supplying 31.3% of the country’s total 2024 volume. Guizhou is known for commodity green and white teas for the export market and has recently expanded matcha production. Note: 2025 production data has not yet been published by the China National Bureau of Statistics as of this writing.
